News: ATM fraudster arrested by a police man, 12 stollen cards recovered

The Nigeria Police Command Enugu state on Friday 12/10/2018, said it had arrested an ATM fraudster, one Obinna Okafor, who operates in banks within Enugu metropolis.
The eye witness report that 12 ATM cards of different banks and individuals, were recovered from the suspect, currently residing at Cater Street in Ogui axis of Enugu metropolis. 
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Ebere Amaraizu, said that the suspect was caught red-handed on Wednesday by police operatives of the New Haven Division.
“The suspect was arrested  by police operatives on duty at the ATM gallery point of the Ebeano branch of an old generation bank,a female victim raised an alarm when the suspect allegedly to exchange her card with a fake one.
“After securing the pin number of the card, the suspect quickly attempted to escape, but the victim raised an alarm, which attracted the attention of police operatives on duty.
“The officers moved in swiftly and arrested the suspect,’’ he said.
According to him, the suspect is now helping police operatives in their investigations.
The police personnel advised the public to be watchful,vigilant and avoid situations whereby they would be tricked into revealing their ATM pin numbers, especially to strangers.

Naira appreciates against dollar at parallel market

The Naira on Tuesday appreciated against the dollar at the parallel market, exchanging at N360 to the dollar, stronger than N361 posted on Monday. At the Bureau De Change window, the Naira was sold at N360 to the dollar, while the Pound Sterling and Euro closed at N477.5 and N413. Trading at the investor’ window saw the Nigerian currency close at N364.33, with a market turnover of 198.71 million dollars. The Naira had remained stable at the foreign exchange market, owing to series of interventions by the Central Bank of Nigeria
